How Does It Work?

The primary principle behind laser hair removal is selective photothermolysis (SPTL), which matches a specific wavelength of light and pulse duration to obtain an optimal effect on targeted tissue with minimal effect on surrounding tissue. Lasers can cause localized damage by selectively heating dark matter or melanin. Hence, it targets the hair follicle while not heating the rest of the skin. Dark objects absorb light, so laser energy can be absorbed by dark material in the skin, but with much more speed and intensity.
What Areas Can Be Treated With Laser Hair Reduction?

Laser hair removal is used to reduce unwanted hair. Common treatment locations include legs, armpits, upper lip, chin, and the bikini line. However, it's possible to treat unwanted hair in nearly any area, except the eyelid or surrounding area. Skin with tattoos should not be treated either.

For best results, your hair should be considerably darker than your skin. The laser also works better on coarse and thick hair than fine hair. The laser cannot work on grey hair, and it is better to avoid laser treatment if you still have a sun tan from a recent vacation. In case you suffer from PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) Photosensitivity or any other illnesses you must inform the doctor during your consultation.
